SONS AND DAUGHTERS

Peter Jackson from Toronto, shared with us a wonderful encounter where he found himself looking into the eyes of God his father. He saw Gods eyes gazing at him with such inexpressible delight and unconditional love that astounded him and totally ‘undid’ him. This experience has transformed his life entirely. He has never been the same again and he now longs for the body of Christ to realise their full inheritance and walk as true sons and daughters of God on this earth. Peter carries one message from God. In his own words, he plays a one string guitar, and it’s always in tune!

Peter reminded us that our father delights in each one of us just as we are. His love is unconditional because all of the conditions were met by Jesus. He loves the worst of the worst in a wild and reckless love and we can allow ourselves to be wrecked by His love. Wow! How do we do this? So often we live under the law of sin and death, comparing and competing with one another and finding we fall short. This is shame based. We are either living out of a blessing or a curse. Galatians says we are one in Jesus. This is the truth but do we believe it? It’s easier to believe the bad stuff about ourselves. We cannot live out of two opinions as this is double-mindedness. Only God’s opinion is the truth and good news has to be freely received.

God wants to work in us from the inside out and turn us upside down. We are His church and are not our own as we’ve been bought with a great price and God is only interested in our complete transformation. Religion is working from the outside in. Christianity is working from the inside out. Peter admonished us to let God out!

God wants to give us His power to glorify Him in this world but he can only give it through humble hearts. Power is dangerous in the hands of an orphan. Humility is the currency of the kingdom of Heaven and Heaven is a kingdom of honour. Jesus prayed that “all of them may be one” He went to the cross to give us redemption, but not just redemption but also adoption and placed as an older son to the father. He has brought us ALL of the way in. We are co-heirs with Christ! It’s not adoption papers but a bonding – the spirit of adoption.

We are so thankful for the truth that has been brought to our hearts over the weekend. Peter has urged us to be as vulnerable as we are able so that we become all who we are called to be. We must remember that God never allows us to be tested more that we can bear. We can let an avalanche of grace comes down the mountain to surround us. Lets step out in faith and risk it. Open up the gates of Heaven so that the King of Glory will come in!

THE PRAYER OF JABEZ

by Jean Packer

Golden Valley Church has been impacted powerfully through Sharron’s heartfelt word from God about the Prayer of Jabez a few weeks ago. We have been holding this word up before The Lord ever since. We want it for ourselves. It is our prayer and our desire to Glorify Him in everything we are. God heard Jabez earnest prayer and gave him all he asked for both materially and spiritually. He wants to do the same for us too.

Prayer of Jabez1 Chronicles 4:9-10
“Jabez cried out to the God of Israel,
“Oh, that you would bless me
and enlarge my territory!
Let your hand be with me,
and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.”
And God granted his request.”

We don’t know very much about Jabez except that he was more honourable than his brother’s, and that he was called Jabez because his Mother bore him in sorrow. Yet, his prayer shows us a fascinating record of personal transformation as he broke through into the blessed life. In his prayer he made four requests to God, and as each of his four requests are pondered upon we see the truths that can change our lives completely. Personal change begins when we cry out to God with open hearts and hands. This is where miracles begin as we see new beginnings and breakthroughs open up before us. We think new thoughts and our direction will begin to shift. One of the most amazing teachings of the Bible is that God can lay His hand on us and provide all of the resources and power we need to do His will. He is personally involved in the lives of His children. He wants to use us fully, and He wants us to succeed.

The Lord gave Jabez all of the material blessings of territory, land and possessions that he asked for through his four requests. These came as a result of the promises that Abraham received for his descendants and Jabez heart to serve God totally.
Jabez made four requests:-

1/ That God would bless him.
Spiritual blessings produce real effects. They call for our lives to be centred on God as they bring more responsibilities…. Yet we can do nothing by ourselves, but we can do everything through Him who strengthens us (Phil 4:13)

2/ That he would enlarge his borders.
That God would enlarge our hearts, and so enlarge our portion in himself. We can ask Him to enlarge our wisdom, patience, humility, understanding and love. For good health and physical strength and to deepen our character to give us ability to help others, family, neighbours, church, city, nation and the nations…

3/ That God’s hand would be with him.
The ‘hand of the Lord’ is another way of describing the Presence of the Holy Spirit. We ask God for His Presence in our lives – to increase. to lead us, protect us, strengthen us, and to work all our works in us and for us.

4/ That He would keep him from evil.
Of sin, the evil of trouble, all the evil designs of his enemies, that they might not hurt, nor make him a Jabez indeed – a man of sorrow.Keep us and our loved ones from harm, anxieties, pain and fear…deliver us from evil.

We cry out for God to deliver us from alcohol, drugs, tobacco, overweight, loneliness, problems at home, abuse and struggles. He will do it as we submit our hearts to His will.

God granted everything he asked for as He is personally involved in the lives of His children. He wants to grant all that we ask for too. Let’s seek His heart… together

GRADUATION SUPPER

by Jean Packer

The ‘School of Leaders’ and ‘School of Prophets’ Graduation Supper was exceptional. We entered a transformed ‘Firehouse’ to a welcoming glass of  juice and enjoyed time to mingle and chat with one another. The room was decorated with flowers and little plants. Each table was beautifully laid with cutlery, glasses and serviettes and the white tablecloths had gold and silver stars scattered over them. Seats had place names thoughtfully positioned and candles were lit to add to the ambiance created by soft background music. The dinner menu was distinctive and appealing with a choice of three courses and included catering for vegetarians. Each course was superb and delicious accompanied with red and white wine and chilled water. The dinner ended with a choice of coffee or tea and chocolates.

We were blessed that our guest speaker was Pastor Alison Bates from CCC Church in Cheltenham. Alison began by commending the schools for completing their courses, especially those who had given of their time to attend both schools in their desire to grow in the Lord. Alison continued by speaking about the calling and cost, yet honour of leadership. She spoke of the temptations that leaders can face in desiring to serve their own ministries. Leaders are called to serve others and she emphasised the importance of character before gifting through sharing with us that this is something she always looks for. This is primarily the quality that is needed to lead others into God’s fullness. The ‘Firehouse’ was highlighted as a place that has been positioned in an area often thought of as marginalised. Leaders are called to serve and to restore hope, value and dignity to the communit. Jesus reached out to those who were wounded and hurting. He restored dignity to them. We are called to do this wherever He may lead us.

After this, our leaders spoke to us with affirmation and encouragement to reach forward to all God has called and equipped us to. Wes and Sharron called each member of the school forward and we individually went up to shake their hands. Alison also shook our hands as she presented us with our certificates. This was done with great applause and happiness. Afterwards, amid much fun and laughter each school were grouped together and photographed by those who had brought their camera. The evening ended on a high note and we left feeling we had experienced a very special occasion.

Our Pastors, Wes, Sharron, Ian and Muriel lovingly prepared, cooked and served us with honour. We were privileged to attend and receive such blessing from our remarkable leaders. They truly demonstrated the Father heart of God towards us in their service of love. He is generous and pours out to us lavishly the best of the best and this is what we received from them.

“FIREHOUSE” OF PRAYER

by Jean Packer

At ‘The House of Prayer’ meeting this Thursday morning we were overwhelmed by the awesome presence of God. Caught up into heavenly realms as worship and intercession flowed to and from God’s heart and ours. During this time Wes heard doors banging shut to areas of our lives that the enemy has used to hold us back from moving into the fullness of all God has for us. Ian continued this through vision and prophesies. We were exhorted to come before God with the things that had been holding us back. This was in order to shut the doors behind us for good!

As they spoke I saw a massive pile of rubble, stones and filthy rags in the middle of the green area behind Golden Valley Firehouse. This was our rubbish and rubble that the enemy had thrown in our path to hold us back from giving our whole heart to God. These were false beliefs and attitudes, difficult circumstances, health issues, our own efforts of good works and the resulting disappointments. They were all piled up and made into a huge bonfire. It was set on fire and the vast flames burned them all up. I then saw a great Eagle and a little dove rise up out of the fire. I heard God say ‘Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit’.

I then saw people coming towards every corner of the green from the north, south, east and west. They were bringing their filthy rags. These rags were thrown on and were consumed by the  fire.  The people were clothed in new brightly coloured garments and there were tears, rejoicing and everyone embracing each other.  Captives set free!

A Dove is a symbol of the Holy Spirit. He brings us truth, faith and gifts regenerated. He is gentle and full of love. Powerful in acts.  He leads us in the way we should go and equips us to reach out to others through His compassion and power.

Isaiah 40:31 – ‘They that wait upon the Lord shall be renewed in strength, they shall mount up with strong wings as eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint’.  Eagles fly high and are sharp sighted. We will be renewed in strength, run and not grow weary as we seek Him with all our heart.

Let us close the doors behind us and not look back!  Let us run the race that is set before us!

‘Not but by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit’ says The Lord… Zechariah 4:6

REPORT ON PRESENCE KEEPERS

by Jean Packer

It was a great pleasure to again welcome Jeremy and Connie Sinnott to our church for the ‘Presence Keepers’ Conference. Like us at Golden Valley Church they have a passion to see the Body of Christ drawn into intimacy with God through worship and soaking in His presence where hearts are healed and renewed in preparation for the coming Bridegroom.

The conference was well attended by people who came from a wide range of churches and areas. All of us had been drawn by a desire to have a deeper knowledge and experience of God in our lives. Jeremy and Connie led us in worship that was beautiful and gentle, yet tremendously powerful. There was a great sense of God’s Presence that arose and emanated throughout the place that lasted all weekend.

Throughout their teaching and sharing, we had fun and laughter with Jeremy and Connie. Connie shared how she used a little buzzer that went off every ten minutes that reminded her to praise and thank God for all her blessings and circumstances, which is so important to do. It was so refreshing in the way they taught us not to have a divide from God that made it easier to receive. They exhorted us to practice intimacy with God’s presence and to have a deeper knowledge of His heart of love for us and explained how we need God to be able to flow out of us to reach people and touch hearts. We can do nothing of ourselves. We need to be channels for Him. It was also wonderful to have time to experience some special times of ‘soaking’ up His presence and our Heavenly Father was able to gently draw us closer bringing release and freedom as He touched us. Our lives were opened up to Him in a deeper way.

Faith levels continually rose as the manifest presence of God came down. Signs and wonders were demonstrated on our second day and healings were in our midst.

Prophetic sessions were also arranged for people who wanted some encouragement from God over their lives and these proved to be enjoyable and affirming both to those who prophesied and those that received. It is such a joy when we allow God speaks and we receive all He has for us!

The ‘Fire Tunnel’ at the end of our meetings was magnificent! We all lined up and went through the tunnel formed by leaders (some of us several times)! We were enveloped by the Holy Spirit’s power and we mostly staggered through with much hilarity and laughter.

THE FIRE OF HIS ‘LOVE REVOLUTION’

Jerame and Miranda Nelson brought a blazing hot message to our ‘Love Revolution’ Conference. This message was a call for all of us to be ‘on fire’ for God! To be part of a new generation of radical Christians who are truly walking in His intimate presence, in His love and in His power. To believe His word and take hold of it in order to step out boldly in His gifting to touch, heal and give hope to our hurting community, nation and world.

We saw much demonstration throughout the weekend. We witnessed miracles of God’s healing power that touched many people who were present. One woman responded to a ‘word of knowledge’ for a damaged right ankle. She came forward as she had twisted her foot and ankle when she was out hiking and had experienced problems ever since. After healing prayer she tested out her foot and ankle thoroughly! This caused much amusement as she was determined to be sure it was healed – and it was! She also received healing to her lower back. Praise God! There were also several other words of knowledge for ankle injuries and people responded positively to healing prayer.

Another woman responded to a word for healing a ‘heart condition’. She had heart failure and would easily become breathless. After prayer she ran around the meeting room and was no longer breathless! One person suffered from asthma for 20 years but felt pressure lift away and she could breathe easily. She felt ‘so good’. Someone with a whistling ear since childhood responded and it stopped! A woman received prayer for sciatica and the pain went. A man received prayer for a slipped disc. He actually had two slipped discs and he gained movement and freedom from pain. He felt good! There were many more responses to the healing touch of God. Ligaments were eased. Repetitive strain injury pain disappeared. Heart stent pressure lifted and pelvic alignment occurred. This is what the world is looking for! People want to see God’s power of love work in their life situations. They need to see His power and His love poured out. One family travelled 3 hours to receive prayer for their 6 year old daughter.

We believe that God is going to touch our city of Gloucester. We have a rich inheritance to claim from our Godly forefathers such as Robert Raikes and George Whitfield. God wants to bless our land because of their faith. Take hold of God’s promise. We need to demonstrate God with the ‘Word’ and the ‘Spirit’ and spread the ‘good news’ by the demonstration of His presence and power. Yes! There is a price to pay. It is intimacy with God. This will cost us everything because God wants our whole hearts. Nothing held back! Jesus only did what He saw His Father doing. He walked and talked with Him in intimate relationship. So can we! Do you want this? Go after it with all your heart. The Kingdom of God is taken violently! With passion!
(Matthew 11:12).

GET REAL!

Sunday 20th March 2011

by Jean Packer

Penny brought us a refreshing word through Acts 23 this week. She spoke about how Paul was a humble man. He apologised for speaking against a ruler, yet he cared enough to speak the gospel message to all who would listen. He was bold and stood up for what he believed. He was an honest, God-fearing man. He was full of the Holy Spirit and fully himself! He trusted God completely and stepped out boldly in obedience. Signs and Wonders followed!

How much do we long to have this purity of heart? To see that the fields are ripe for harvest and be able to gather in the harvest freely and joyfully! What stops us? Penny expressed this as fear of man. What would others think of us? Fear that we may become stumbling blocks if we wavered in our own opinions in order to accommodate others? What would happen if the way things are, changed? We worry about being contaminated? We want to be in control of how things should be… the list could go on and God can show each one of us our own personal fears if we ask Him to.

Yes people watch, and criticise us sometimes. Yet we need to grow up in these times, weigh up what is said, and discard what is not true. Die to what people say about us otherwise we will just go up and down in our emotions. We are loved and protected by God. Jesus died on the cross for our, and their sins. The Pharisees spoke against Jesus (Luke 6:7), yet we are urged to speak boldly (Luke 6:22). Lets not be man pleasers but God pleasers. Luke 6:26 actually says “Woe to you when all men speak good of you”! Lets stand bold and trust God! Don’t compromise our faith… get into His intimate presence to hear His voice… and step out in obedience to whatever He tells us. Know what we carry inside us and reach out to people and share His love.

Jesus spent time with outcasts! He was comfortable with them! He fitted in and accepted them… just as they were, and they knew it! They felt loved! God wants to change our theology, which is sometimes religious… He wants us to be available to Him whenever The Holy Spirit prompts us to act. In whatever ways that may be. These may not fit into our mindsets and expectations and we may worry what others may think, but He wants us pliable and open. He wants us dead to our reputations! It doesn’t matter what others think or say. The blood of Jesus cleanses us from all accusations! He wants our whole hearts….minds and soul for Him and for others. It is love that convicts … we don’t have to do anything else but love one another as He first loved us.

Lets get real! Be fully ourselves through Him! Love ourselves as we are… He made us… love one another… let’s be open and transparent, like Jesus. The world sees who we are. We are called to be mighty warriors for Him – Fearless in all we do and to step out in faith and trust. We need to get rid of poverty mindsets and trust that all our provisions will be met as we need them. God wants to remove our limitations. We can do all things in Him!
