END OF A PHASE

The final Sunday Service of Golden Valley Church at Innsworth Community Hall took place this morning. The church met together for a time of great celebratory worship and praise.

Meetings have been held in the Innsworth venue for the past two and a half years, and we are grateful for the time we have been able to spend there. However, it is now time to move on to the chapel – renamed ‘the Firehouse’ – in Coney Hill, Gloucester.

Other activities of the church will continue to take place in the Churchdown / Innsworth area.

SOAKING PRAYER

This evening the soaking prayer session in Churchdown led by Amanda and Rachel was an awesome time! The Presence of God was thick and the whole evening sensitive and worshipful.

Different students from the School of Leaders are leading ‘soaking’ events as part of their training. Well done ladies!

ALPHA RESUMES AT PLEROMA SALON

After a summer break the lunchtime Alpha course resumes tomorrow at ‘Pleroma Hair and Beauty Salon’ in Churchdown. A fantastic group of ladies is currently spending an hour on Thursday lunchtimes to chat over sandwiches, listen to a short talk on an aspect of the Christian faith, and discuss questions and thoughts.

“I’m so enjoying having Alpha in the salon” says Penny the proprietor, who is also a part of the pastoral team of Golden Valley Church, “It’s great to see what is happening here.”

It’s not too late to join, if you hurry. You can simply do the sessions you have missed on the next course.

ALPHA TO RUN IN BEAUTY SALON

A new lunchtime version of the highly successful ‘Alpha’ course is due to commence at ‘Pleroma Hair and Beauty Salon’ in Churchdown, Gloucester later this month.

Alpha logoThe long running Alpha course is designed primarily for people who aren’t churchgoers and each course is open to everyone who would like to attend. Alpha courses attract a wide range of guests of different ages and backgrounds and according to the ‘Alpha UK’ organisers there  are currently over 7,000 courses running across the UK.

This isn’t the first time a lunchtime Alpha course has been held in Golden Valley Church, but it is the first in this setting. Penny and her team are looking forward to gathering their guests in the salon for a light lunch, time to chat and make friends, followed by the short talk on an aspect of the Christian faith, such as “Who Is Jesus?”, or “How Does God Guide Us?”

PRAYER EVENING FOR THE UK

We watched the news of the changeover of Government last night and spent an evening in Churchdown, praying for all the parties, and for this country which is in a crucial stage. We pray for unity and lasting togetherness in the new coalition – and bless them to do well.

Here are a few of the things some people felt God was showing them as we prayed.

“There were interlocking round shields going up all around the perimeter of Britain. A defensive wall was formed from the North East to the South West. Protection…” W

“I saw God on the throne speaking things out.  Angels were there waiting.  As soon as God spoke Angels were very busy taking decrees and dispatches to earth, to Great Britain. A  place of busyness and activity.” S

“I saw the map of the UK and I saw four angels coming from the North, South, East and West.  They were each blowing a trumpet.  I asked God what that meant and felt Him say that it is an awakening call… Then I saw the cross being upheld.  I asked who or what did that and I felt He said it was the church holding the cross up because it is all about the cross!” M

“Heavens armies were amassing (like in the film ‘Gladiator’).  Soldiers forming into lines…Words: The time is now – The time is yet here. A crown was being thrown down onto the British Isles. Revelation:  That the UK will once again become a leader in the world’s stage. The UK will be a country of authority speaking truth over the nations.” M

“I saw Big Ben and felt God saying, ‘It’s a New Day in the Nation and over the Government and Houses of Parliament’…” R

“It was quite dark.  I saw a rat in a sewer, and felt that the sewer represents what British politics have become.  I saw the rats leaving.  Then I saw the sun rising over the nation.  A new day, new growth, spring time.  Have faith because God wants to do good things.” N

” I had a sense of a multitude of angels with clocks, watches, stop watches – synchronizing time – bringing alignment.  This is a long-awaited season that God has ordained before the beginning of time to bring a paradigm shift to the nation of Britain.  A shift and dawning light coming to the minds of people.  They will spread out to the nations … “J (Ecclesiastes 3:1-8)

” ‘And the earth shall be filled with the Glory (knowledge) of God, as the waters cover the sea’. God is accelerating His purposes and filling His people with the Glory ‘extending the places of out tents’.  I looked down from the heavenlies and saw a map of the British Isles.  It looked like pizza dough.  God picked it up with shaking and swirling and making it extend, as the coastline is rather jagged parts of the nation touched other nations, becoming bridges…” R

CHANGE OF PREMISES

After almost sixteen years of meeting in Parton Manor Junior School, Churchdown, Golden Valley Church has now moved on to new premises for Sunday services.

We are most grateful to the staff and governors at Parton Manor for allowing us to use the premises so flexibly and for such a long period of time. We especially appreciate the previous Headteacher, Mrs. J. Thorogood, who in 1994 welcomed the church into the school for its weekend services, and assisted us in developing a positive partnership together at that time.

Truly so much has happened in this venue, with lives being changed by God’s love and presence, and worship and prayer being released of dynamic proportions. We thank God.

Now it’s a season for some changes to be made, and the final service in Parton Manor was held on December 20th. It was a wonderful mix of Christmas celebration with carols, puppets, drama and dance, as well as several testimonies of individuals’ experiences with God in Golden Valley Church.

Sunday meetings have now shifted for the present time to Innsworth Community Hall, Rookery Road, Innsworth, Gloucester at 10:30am.

We anticipate new things in God’s love and purposes.
